Ms. Carvalho joined Cobblestone Management as President/CEO in 2018. She previously served as a bank President/CEO for in excess of 10 years. At the time of her appointment the bank was under regulatory scrutiny by bank regulators. Under her leadership the bank stabilized and grew to become one of the area’s most successful commercial and residential lenders and was named one of the Fastest Growing Lenders in Massachusetts by Banker & Tradesman. Prior to joining the bank, Ms. Carvalho served in various credit, risk management and commercial lending capacities at Citizens Financial Group, and has extensive experience in enterprise risk management, compliance requirements and overall bank management. Ms. Carvalho received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Massachusetts/Dartmouth, a Master of Business Administration from Bryant University and a Master of Science in Financial Services and Banking from Suffolk University.

Mr. Berlinghieri has been with Cobblestone Management since 2011 after 35 years of experience in lending and credit administration with large and small banks focusing on commercial real estate and C&I loans. He began his banking career in 1973 with Bank of Boston’s factoring division and 1976 he joined New England Merchants National Bank / Bank of New England, rising through the commercial lending ranks to Vice President and Team Leader. Upon the acquisition of Bank of New England by Fleet Bank in 1991, Mr. Berlinghieri was the Senior Risk Manager for two Middle Market lending teams. In 1995, he joined the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to manage an economic development fund, providing financing to companies unable to obtain conventional bank financing. From 1996 to joining Cobblestone, Mr. Berlinghieri was in senior credit positions with several community banks. Mr. Berlinghieri is a graduate of Suffolk University earning a BSBA (Finance and Banking Major) and MBA.
Mr. Carpinella has over 30 years of experience in commercial lending, loan review and bank examination. He has held progressively responsible positions in work-out and loan review, eventually managing the credit review function of Citizens Bank’s Massachusetts operation. During the course of his career, he spent three years as a bank regulator for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) where he assessed the credit quality of community and regional banks throughout New England. His experience includes thirteen years working as a commercial loan officer for Citizens Bank and TD Bank and as SVP of Commercial Lending in the Non-Profit group of Peoples United Bank. He holds degrees in Economics and Marketing from Boston College’s School of Management.
Eric “Mike” Hughes
Mr. Hughes became a banking consultant with Cobblestone Management in 2003 after more than twenty years of experience with Shawmut Bank, Bank of Braintree, Hibernia Savings, First Federal Savings Bank and Capital Crossing Bank. His expertise lies in reviewing commercial loan portfolios and training of client personnel for in-house credit analysis. He has significant experience and expertise in providing M&A due diligence for client banks. In addition, he performs independent appraisal reviews for several client banks. Mr. Hughes is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, has a Masters in Mineral Economics from The Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from Boston University.
Loan Review Consultant
Mr. Jezard joined Cobblestone in May of 2017. He began his financial services career in 2012 as a Lead Analyst for Minuteman Equity Fund, serving in that role until 2015. From 2016 to 2017, he worked as a Commercial Credit Analyst for Rockland Trust. Mr. Jezard has a B.A. in Business Administration from UMass Amherst.
Ms. Lawless has been with Cobblestone Management for over twenty years, during which she helped to develop the company’s commercial credit based philosophy of risk rating management. Prior to Cobblestone Management, she served as a community banking lender for ten years at Bay Banks, Inc., Shawmut Corporation and Bank of New England. Ms. Lawless has developed business, managed commercial bank customers and supervised lending groups. She performs loan reviews, credit policies and procedure reviews, as well as the evaluation of risk ratings and the overall risk in the loan portfolio. Ms. Lawless has a degree in history from Dickinson College and an MBA from Babson College.
Ms. MacLean has been with Cobblestone since 2016. She has almost 40 years of Banking experience. In addition to 8 years as the Director of Credit Risk Analysis at Fleet/BankBoston, she also spent eight years as a Managing Director and a Global Credit Manager for State Street Global Markets. Ms. MacLean has a B.A. degree from Wellesley College and completed the Commercial Credit Training Program at Bank of New England.
Mr. Nolan has been with Cobblestone Management since 2016. This followed 30 years of experience in commercial banking, loan servicing, real estate finance and hospitality consulting. He began his banking career in 1986 with Bank of New England in real estate and C&I lending and became a workout specialist with Fleet Bank/RECOLL Management. Mr. Nolan has considerable experience with distressed debt as a consultant and Asset Manager. He also possesses a high level of expertise in hospitality lending. Mr. Nolan is a graduate of Colby College with a degree in Economics and the Center for Real Estate at MIT with a degree in real estate finance and development.
Ms. Joyce Shand joined Cobblestone Management in 2011. Prior to joining Cobblestone Management, from 2006 to 2010, she was a Senior Credit Analyst at Commerce Bank & Trust Co. in Worcester. She also worked for the United States Department of Treasury office of New York as a Credit Risk Management Specialist. Ms. Shand attended Brown University and earned degrees in Ethics and Political Philosophy. She offers exceptional loan review skills and is particularly adept at composing final reports on the engagements where she serves as Team Leader for Cobblestone Management.
