Mr. Ahrens has over 40 years of experience in commercial lending, audit and loan review with a securities management dimension. He has spent most of his career with larger financial institutions including Bank of New York, FleetBoston, Sovereign and Wells Fargo. His audit/loan review experience was achieved through a period with KPMG, which included (but was not limited to) reviewing both problem and performance assets. In addition, he started his career with securities industry review and provided credit support services for extensions of credit in this industry as well as public utility/transportation industries. He has also been involved with creating a financial institution division for Sovereign Bank.

Steven Carpinella
President & CEO
Mr. Carpinella has over 30 years of experience in commercial lending, loan review and bank examination. He has held progressively responsible positions in work-out and loan review, eventually managing the credit review function of Citizens Bank’s Massachusetts operation. During the course of his career, he spent three years as a bank regulator for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) where he assessed the credit quality of community and regional banks throughout New England. His experience includes thirteen years working as a commercial loan officer for Citizens Bank and TD Bank and as SVP of Commercial Lending in the Non-Profit group of Peoples United Bank. He holds degrees in Economics and Marketing from Boston College’s School of Management.
Carol Hamilton

Ms. Hamilton joined Cobblestone in 2020. She began her extensive banking career in 1984, participating in the BayBanks, Inc. Loan Officer Development Program. Over her 36-years in banking, she developed, structured and managed a significant number of commercial relationships with businesses and other consultants, small and large, and in a variety of industries. She has worked with companies in and around New England during her 10-year tenure at USTrust/Citizens and TD Bank, and her last two years as a Senior Vice President at Salem Five. She has her Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in Sociology and Master of Business Administration, both from Boston University.
Eric Michael Hughes
Vice President
Mr. Hughes became a banking consultant with Cobblestone Management in 2003 after more than twenty years of experience with Shawmut Bank, Bank of Braintree, Hibernia Savings, First Federal Savings Bank and Capital Crossing Bank. His expertise lies in reviewing commercial loan portfolios and training of client personnel for in-house credit analysis. He has significant experience and expertise in providing merger and acquisition due diligence for client banks. In addition, he performs independent appraisal reviews for several clients on an ongoing and specific request basis. As part of his continuing education relative to performing appraisal reviews, Mr. Hughes completed the RMA course Understanding and Interpreting Real Estate Appraisals and recently completed the Appraisal Institute courses Appraisal Principles and Appraisal Procedures. Mr. Hughes is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, has a Masters in Mineral Economics from The Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.
Thomas Landers

Mr. Landers joined Cobblestone Management in May 2021 after 28 years of commercial lending experience with Shawmut Bank, Fleet Bank, Citizens Bank, Sovereign Bancorp, MountainOne Financial Partners, Eastern Bank and Envision Bank. He has significant experience in Commercial Real Estate/Construction, Commercial and Industrial Lending and Relationship Management. Mr. Landers received formal Credit Training at Fleet Bank in 1999. Mr. Landers is a graduate of American International College earning a degree in Liberal Studies.
Linda MacLean

Ms. MacLean has been with Cobblestone since 2016. She has almost 40 years of banking experience. In addition to serving eight years as the Director of Credit Risk Analysis at Fleet/BankBoston, she worked eight years as a Managing Director and Global Credit Manager for State Street Global Markets. Ms. MacLean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College. She is a graduate of Bank of New England’s Commercial Credit Training Program.
Ann McCoy
Loan Review Officer
Prior to joining Cobblestone, Ms. McCoy was a commercial relationship manager and business development officer at South Shore Bank. Her commercial banking experience also includes relationship management roles at Fleet Bank and USTrust. While at USTrust, she worked in the Bank’s asset based lending department and managed controlled loans. Her experience also includes serving as a residential mortgage underwriter of jumbo mortgages for high net worth individuals at Mellon Bank. Ms. McCoy is the founder and Director of Maddie’s Promise, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to funding research into pediatric cancer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Managerial Economics from Stonehill College and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Bentley University.
Matthew Ward

Mr. Ward has nearly 20 years of experience in banking, having begun his career at Wells Fargo Bank in 2004. After spending six years at Wells Fargo in branch and commercial relationship management, he joined the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLB) in 2010. At the FHLB, Mr. Ward served first as a residential Real Estate Collateral Analyst, progressing to Senior Real Estate Collateral Analyst where he actively managed a $23 billion commercial portfolio and performed collateral reviews for the FHLB’s 420+ members comprised of credit unions, banks, and insurance companies. Mr. Ward holds a degree in Business Management from the University of Nevada, Reno.
